Block of the Month for 2010

Click here for "Wonky Log Cabin Tutorial" links

Join us for a truly liberating experience!

Susan will be running our 2010 Block of the Month program, using the book "Collaborative Quilting" by Freddy Moran and Gwen Marston. Purchase of the book from Quilt Play admits you to the Block of the Month.

On the third Saturday of each month (and the following Monday), Susan will demo a new "liberated block." Gwen and Freddy are known for their new takes on traditional blocks.

We will all be using our own fabric for the blocks, but there will be mini bundles of fabrics you may choose to purchase. Dimensions and instructions will be given for 6" and 12" versions of each block. You may choose to create 4 patch blocks from four of the 6" versions, all 12" blocks, or a combination of the two. Finishing instructions will be provided at the end of the year.

Please note: Classes must be prepaid. Pattern/book purchases are required to protect the copyright of the authors.

Jo Morton Club

Jo Morton is a fabric and quilt designer who specializes in Civil War era reproduction fabrics and small scale quilts with big appeal. Jo's Little Women Club runs for six months, beginning in February this year. The pattern set costs $35 and includes a demo each month by Diana Thompson. The Jo Morton group will meet the 3rd Thursday of each month at 11:00am, and the following Wednesday evening at 6:00 pm. Please register by February 1st so I can order the patterns. I can only order as many as we have registered participants, as the patterns are for club members only (per Jo Morton). Most of the quilts are fairly scrappy, perfect for using your Jo Morton stash, supplemented with our fat quarters and bundles. Kits will be made on request. Samples may be viewed at the shop.

All classes have a supply list which will be provided when you register. Most classes require a working sewing machine, your own fabric, batting, thread, rotary cutter, and gridded ruler. Some classes require advance preparation before class time, which will be explained on the supply list.

IMPORTANT CLASS POLICIES

All classes must be paid for at time of registration. Cancellation with one week or more before class will receive a store credit for future class registration or merchandise. Cancellation with less than a week before class will forfeit registration fee unless there is a waiting list or you are able to provide your own substitute. We can only accept a handful of students since our classroom is so small, so please respect the teacher's right to a full class and a fair wage.

Regular priced books, patterns, fabric and notions purchased for class will be discounted 20%, Please tell us at the beginning of the transaction if your purchase is for class.

The shop is in an old house with poor insulation and circulation, so dressing in layers is a must. You may find yourself more comfortable upstairs in a T-shirt, no matter how frigid the outside (or downstairs!) air may be.
