February 2009 Quilt Play Home

If you haven't visited Quilt Play in the last few weeks, you may not recognize it! We have dozens and dozens of new fabrics, books and patterns now in the shop, and more coming almost every day, so be sure to come in early and often.

New Fabric

Our newest additions include Rise 'n' Shine, a sunny group in red, yellow, green, black and cream that would be right at home in a retro kitchen. The line has florals, dots, and large gingham checks, with a collection of roosters and a fun chicken wire patterned fabric. Coordinating large rickrack is on its way.

From Moda, we have Oh Cherry Oh! in Charm packs, Jelly Rolls, Honey Buns, and Turnovers. Bright cherries adorn fabrics in pink, red, blue and yellow, and bolts are on their way.

Baskets of Flowers from Mary Engelbreit is equally summery with assorted stylized posies in red, white, blue, and yellow. This fabric is available in Jelly Rolls and Charm Packs, and on the bolt.

The lovely, elegant Hartfield collection is kitted up for the featured medallion quilt which may be seen on the Moda website. We have printed out the full color pattern and included it in the kits. The Hartfield fabrics, named for Jane Austen's family homes, are florals, swirls, and scrolls in beautiful shades of chocolate, cream, pink, lilac, and seafoam green. Bolts and Charm Packs are in stock.

Just in today, bolts and bolts of soft, springy Kashmir IV, with paisleys and florals galore in pink, cream, aqua, blue, and lilac. They'd be perfect for a spring throw to brighten up the next six weeks of winter. (I got to Woodstock too late this morning to stop that wretched groundhog from ruining it for us!)

In the front room we also have a nice selection of Japanese fabrics from Lecien in teensy prints that are very cute - very, very cute!
Free Spirit's "Hot Flash" by Louella Doss has to be the brightest, richest colored fabric to arrive so far. Animals, flowers, dots, and amorphous shapes practically vibrate off the fabric. They're great for bags and quilts with big, bold pieces.

Upstairs, we have four more new collections in stock:

Critters is wiggling and wriggling with bright primary colored bugs, accompanied by dots, stripes, and a funky plaid.
Eric Carle's "Very Hungry Caterpillar" has been joined by "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?" It's another group of familiar images perfect for cuddling with at story time.
Up, Up and Away is the new flannel panel & coordinates from Pearl Louise, with cute animals afloat in a hot air balloon.
Don't miss Free Spirit's "Robots" by Patrick Lose. These old fashioned robots are in happy shades of red, orange, yellow and blue and would make a great nap quilt for a little boy or girl.

 Trunk Show
Stop in before the end of March to see a trunk show of bright, fun, gorgeous quilts made by the women at Blue Underground Studios pattern design company. These patterns have been flying out the door  - I have already reordered twice in a week to keep up with the demand.
