Some of you have already joined
in the fun of our UFQ Challenge. That's Unfortunate
Fat Quarter Challenge, for long. Stop in this month to receive a free
fat quarter in a plain brown wrapper. One quilter's reject may be
another quilter's treasure! All we ask is that you attempt to make some
sort of silk purse (organizer?), quilt block, potholder, pillow,
whatever you can think of - from our collection of sow's ears.
Next, turn in your creation, whatever it may be,
by Saturday, March 28th. Each entry will be assigned a number and will
be displayed in the shop. Anyone who wishes to may vote (early and
often, of course) for the project of their choice. Each vote costs a
quarter, and all proceeds will be donated to the Avon Township Food
pantry. Voting will close on Wednesday, April 15th. The winning sewist
will receive a dozen fat quarters of her/his choice.
Oh, and not to put any pressure on the rest of
you, but one entry has already been turned in! Some people are just
overachievers....

Just 12 days remain in Joni's Free Thread
Promotion! Throughout the month of February, any quilts dropped off for
machine quilting by Threadplay will have no charge added for thread.
This is a savings of $10 or more from Joni's regular price. Now is the
time to turn UFOs into finished quilts.
Batting Sale
For those of you who do your own quilting - and
even for those who don't, we further encourage you to finish up some
projects with all our batting at 25% off until February 28th. This
includes cotton, poly, and wool batting. Come in early for best
selection, but rest assured, even if you show up on the 28th and your
size is out of stock, you will receive the sale price so long as you
reserve it on or before the 28th.

Class
Updates
We have two openings in Learn to
Quilt classes beginning February 21st. Please see the website www.quiltplayshop.com for details, or call us at
847-548-4967. Itinerary and supply list are available at the shop also.
Instructor is Lynn Ray.
Lynn has also graciously allowed us to add yet
another section of her very popular Quilt As You Go Tablerunner class.
At the latest class, Lynn and a student pinpointed an error
in the "new & improved" pattern, and the publisher is shipping us
new inserts right away. If you have purchased one of the new patterns
(the ones with all color pages) let us know, please. The next class for
the tablerunner is Wednesday, April 15th, from 5 - 8pm. Class is $20
and purchase of pattern is required. Patterns and fabric bought for
class are 20% off. Please let the person checking you out know that
your purchase is for a class in order to get your discount.
Sit & Sew is not a class, but an opportunity
to sit, sew, and chat up in the classroom. We are going to start with
the fourth Sunday of the month, beginning this Sunday, February 22.
There is no charge for this event, but as our space is limited, we ask
that you call and reserve a spot. Bring along a project to work on, and
more for show and tell if you like.

Remember, we have new fabric
arriving every week - we expect 40+ batiks this month. We have recently
acquired Sweet, Baskets of Flowers, and Oh Cherry Oh! from Moda,
Hotflash from Free Spirit, and new Civil War beauties in Cheddar,
Poison Green, and blue. "Aviary" charm packs are here also.Diana is
getting our Jo Morton Club samples going; signups will begin in March.
Take advantage of the clear, sunny days to stock up on projects for the
next snowstorm... that wretched groundhog has it in for us.
